A Couple of "Lil' Bits" For General Joy and Amusement

A couple of little designs in a style I'm enjoying, very loose and whimsical and fun.  I made these two bits for friends of mine, to clear the clouds over their heads, and I think I'll go on and add an additional two to make a set.

Madeleine Rose's "Winter Bird Collection"

There is something about the Holidays and birds.  I have always found the little birds perched in the barren apple trees, or hopping across the snow, or clinging to the side of a suet sock, to be a delightful addition to the winter landscape.  Year after year as a child I'd watch the birds in the back yard - cardinals, bluejays, woodpeckers, chickadees and titmice - and when I moved to the High Desert, they were all different birds - purple finches, sparrows, quail, goldfinches, juncos, and scrub jays.

It is with these memories and inspirations in my mind that I created the Winter Bird Collection, a set of 4 cards featuring four of my favorite birds - purple finch, black-capped chickadee, cedar waxwing, and varied thrush.  They are the less-common, but equally as beautiful winter birds we often see or only sometimes spot out the window, in the snowy landscape.

These pieces are available as greeting cards (soon!) in the MaddyRose Etsy shop.  They are all (c) 2010 Madeleine Rose Design, and are open for licensing.  If you would like more information on licensing Madeleine Rose images for giftware, paper goods, tabletop, etc., please e-mail MadeleineRoseDesign@gmail.com.

Welcome to Madeleine Rose Design

Hi!  I'm Madeleine Rose
I thought it about time, having created some things that will be on the market soon, to launch an internet presence for our Maddy Rose, a "pen name" company, of sorts, designing vintage- and nature-inspired items for the giftware market.

Why "Madeleine Rose?"
Well here's the secret.  "Madeleine Rose" is nobody's name, but a brand.  She's been created as an overarching name for designs created by Lauren Reeser, a freelance artist who has done designwork for Westland Giftware, South Seas Enterprises, and the Trail of Painted Ponies.  Lauren (that's me!) is very inspired by vintage ephemera, Americana, but also old-world Baroque, Rococo, and Victorian style, nature and animals, magic and whimsy, and loves all months ending in "-ber."

What's In The Works?
Currently working in partnership with The Trail of Painted Ponies, Madeleine Rose is developing delightful designs for collectible figurines, and beautiful illustrations for children's storybooks.  Also, just released is the new "Winter Bird Collection," a set of four beautiful greeting cards for the Holidays, with a subtle vintage appeal and delicate hand-drawn linework.  Look for updates and postings about new artwork and gift packages, plus exciting news coming soon about the release of the "Celebrations Collection," from Trail of Painted Ponies!
