There is something about the Holidays and birds. I have always found the little birds perched in the barren apple trees, or hopping across the snow, or clinging to the side of a suet sock, to be a delightful addition to the winter landscape. Year after year as a child I'd watch the birds in the back yard - cardinals, bluejays, woodpeckers, chickadees and titmice - and when I moved to the High Desert, they were all different birds - purple finches, sparrows, quail, goldfinches, juncos, and scrub jays.
It is with these memories and inspirations in my mind that I created the Winter Bird Collection, a set of 4 cards featuring four of my favorite birds - purple finch, black-capped chickadee, cedar waxwing, and varied thrush. They are the less-common, but equally as beautiful winter birds we often see or only sometimes spot out the window, in the snowy landscape.
